Turks & Caicos Grace Bay Named Best Beach in the World
Trip Advisor announced last week that Grace Bay in Turks & Caicos Islands is the Number One Best Beach in the world. The announcement came along with the release of the list of best beaches in the Trip Advisor annual Travelers’ Choice awards.
According to TripAdvisor, the award winners were determined based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor. The data was gathered over a 12-month period. Last year, Grace Bay fell to number two, being replaced by Australia’s Bondi Beach.
The last time Grace bay held the number one spot was in 2016.
T&C’s Grace Bay
Providenciales is consistently one of the world’s top beach destinations. While the island boasts many beautiful beaches, Grace Bay is its most famous. As one reviewer described:
If you hate turquoise blue water, white sand beach, and sunshine, I’d skip this place. 😉
I’ve been to beaches all over the world, and this one was breathtaking. We felt like we were in a postcard. Calm waters, friendly people, nice breeze coming off the ocean … it was magical.
Grace Bay features four miles of soft white quartz sand, crystal clear turquoise water, and a long coral reef just off-shore. It is perfect for snorkeling, water sports, swimming, shell collecting or simply strolling.
The award-winning attractions continue just off the beach. There are numerous upscale resorts, hotels, and villas located along Grace Bay beach, catering to both couples and families. Some of the island’s best restaurants are also located along Grace Bay. In fact, Providenciales has more Zagat rated restaurants than any island in the Caribbean.
TripAdvisor’s Other Best Beaches
The Caribbean ranked well in this year’s rankings. However, with the exception of Turks and Caicos, none of the islands ravaged by last year’s hurricanes made the list. Below is the rest of the Top Ten list:
- Baia do Sancho in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
- Varadero Beach in Varadero, Cuba
- Eagle Beach in Aruba
- Seven Mile Beachon Grand Cayman, the Cayman Islands
- La Concha Beach in San Sebastian, Spain
- Clearwater Beach in Clearwater, Florida
- Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica
- Bavaro Beach in Bavaro, Dominican Republic
- Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres, Mexico
For those looking for a beach closer to home, Clearwater Beach was ranked the best beach in the United States.
