20 Dollars First World War – In Flanders Fields Silver Coin
This commemorative silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint marks the 100th anniversary of the poem “In Flanders Fields”, written in 1915 by Canadian physician and poet Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae during the First World War. The reverse design depicts a Canadian soldier standing solemnly before rows of battlefield crosses, with poppies and the poem’s opening line symbolizing remembrance and sacrifice. The obverse features the effigy of King George V, under whose reign Canada fought in the Great War. The coin honors Canada’s military history and the enduring legacy of remembrance associated with World War I.
